Isabelle Kranabetter is a German theatre maker working on interdisciplinary forms between performance theatre, music, opera and new media.
Isabelle Kranabetter was a junior student at the Dresden University of Music and later studied theatre and music at the Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich as well as at the University Paris 8.
As a dramaturg, librettist and stage director she collaborated with Prinzregenten- and Gärtnerplatztheater (Munich), Gasteig (Munich), Radialsystem V – space for arts and ideas (Berlin), Festival d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence, De Nationale Opera Amsterdam, Aldeburgh Music, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon), LOD muziektheater (Gent), Polish National Opera Teatr Wielki (Warsaw), Philharmonie de Paris, La Monnaie/De Munt (Brussels), Bayer Kultur, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Kölner Philharmonie (Cologne), International Festival of Contemporary Music of the Biennale di Venezia, Munich Biennale – International Festival for New Music Theater, International Music Festival Heidelberger Frühling (Heidelberg), Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth (Waterloo), Muziekcentrum De Bijloke (Gent), Musiktheatertage Wien (Vienna), Stanislavsky Electrotheatre (Moscow) and the Hamburg State Opera.
Isabelle Kranabetter is an alumna of the Academy Opera Today (“Akademie Musiktheater heute”) as well as of the Académie du Festival d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence.
In 2019 her French cotranslation of Heiner Goebbels’ collected writings will be published by the Éditions de la Philharmonie de Paris.
